Photographing Children in Oxford, Mississippi: Finding Joy in the Little Moments

There is something incredibly special about photographing children. Every session reminds me why I fell in love with photography in the first place. Kids bring so much personality, curiosity, and joy that no two sessions are ever the same.

People often ask me how I get children to smile so naturally. The truth is, I don't expect perfection. I let kids be kids. We play games, explore, laugh, and sometimes make silly noises. Somewhere in the middle of all that fun, the magic happens.

For whatever reason, children seem to gravitate toward me. Maybe it's because I'm a mom and understand their little personalities. Maybe it's because I'm not much taller than a fifth grader myself! Whatever the reason, I love the connection I get to build with each child. Those genuine smiles, belly laughs, and curious expressions are worth so much more than a perfectly posed photograph.

One of my favorite parts of being a photographer in Oxford, Mississippi, is getting to watch families grow. I've photographed children chasing bubbles, twirling through fields, picking wildflowers, climbing on tree stumps, and wrapping their tiny arms around the people they love most. Those are the moments parents never want to forget—and they shouldn't have to.

Childhood moves so quickly. One day they're asking to be carried, and before you know it, they're heading off to middle school. The little gap-toothed smiles, tiny hands, and carefree giggles don't last forever, but photographs allow us to hold onto those memories long after the moment has passed.

More than anything, I'm grateful for the parents who trust me with these precious memories. It is an incredible honor to be invited into your family's story and preserve this season of life for you. I know these photographs will become keepsakes that your children—and maybe even your grandchildren—will look back on one day.

If you're looking for a children's photographer in Oxford, Mississippi, I'd love to create a relaxed, joyful experience for your family. My goal isn't just to deliver beautiful images, it's to capture your child's personality exactly as they are today. Years from now, I want you to look back at your gallery and remember not only what your children looked like, but what they felt like in this season of life.

Thank you for allowing me to do what I love every single day. Photographing the children of Oxford has been one of the greatest blessings of my career, and I can't wait to meet many more little personalities along the way.
